innovate out of plastic

WHO WE ARE

U-recycle Initiative Africa is a registered (CAC/IT/NO 157391) Youth-led, non-profit organization committed to advancing circular economy, environmental education, and climate action across Africa.

Founded in September 2018, U-recycle Initiative Africa, is one of Africa’s largest youth-led environmental NGOs on a mission to equip African youths to become co-creators of a sustainable future through world-class experiential training, circular innovation and transformative research, starting from their schools and communities.

We have implemented 80+ projects equipping thousands of students and youth across Nigeria and Africa. Our initiative has been recognized and supported by prestigious global institutions such as the Global Environment Facility (the Largest Environmental Funder in the World), National Geographic Society, the Government of Canada, One Young World and the Captain Planet Foundation. Our Impact Story has been featured on multiple international and local news platforms including CNN.

Our efforts are geared towards mitigating plastic pollution across Africa and protecting oceans, vulnerable communities, the planet, biodiversity, and humans from the perils of the plastic pollution crisis.

We invest our time and resources into educating schools and communities about environmental sustainability and proffer deep-rooted solutions to make the reduction, recovering, repurposing, and recycling of waste more efficient and pervasive across schools and communities in Africa. We are focused on promoting a circular economy through advocating for sustainable and effective policies, facilities, and systems to eliminate the huge disastrous impact of plastic waste on the environment.

U-recycle Initiative was established in September 2018 and ever since then we have been committed to proffering solutions to the issue of pollution.

Our work is positioned at the intersection of climate education, circular economy, and environmental justice, bringing climate solutions to life in schools, universities, and underrepresented communities.
